The Old Man explains that wiener dogs are ferocious because they were bread to hunt badgers and because they are so short that a zombie can t bend over far enough to catch them. Zeke begins to explain the recent events and asks what could cause this zombie behavior. Callie is looking at a plucked chicken hanging from a tree branch. The old man yells for her to get away, and tosses something on the ground below the chicken, and a bear trap springs closed. The old man curses zombies and begins to explain that while the area had always had a minor zombie problem, until now, they were nocturnal, and kept to remote areas. Many people didn t know they existed, many believed they were only a legend, and a few even hunted them in the forests. The old man casually dispatches the head with a shot between the eyes, and explains that the only way to kill them is to destroy their brains. Zeke realizes these are the same zombies he encountered earlier and that the one he ran over has been carrying its friend s head around.
